Discover Safe Spaces for Teens
Queens Public Library’s Teen Centers are safe spaces for middle and high school students to complete homework, do research, participate in programs and leadership initiatives, and explore their creativity.
The Teen Centers do not exclude other customers of the Queens Public Library, but they are designed to serve the needs of our teen population. Teens are welcome everywhere in the library.
A valid Queens Public Library card is required to enter the Teen Centers.
Our Teen Centers host a wide variety of programs, including:
- Creative Programs: designed to engage teens in fun hands-on activities. These include broadcasting programs, music and dance, and creative writing
- Academic Programs: assistance with test prep, college and career readiness, the college application process, financial literacy, resume and interview help
- Literacy Programs: Summer Reading, author visits, and reading enrichment programs
- Health and Recreation Programs: these focus on awareness, self-advocacy, and education
- Technology Programs: STEM presentations, computers and printers for homework, video game clubs, and even a recording studio with audio equipment
- Life Skills Programs: preparing teens for the professional world, with job search workshops, tie-knotting tutorials, mock interview sessions, and job application assistance
- Special Programs: includes leadership programs, legal rights awareness, and cultural arts performances
All of our Teen Centers have been recently renovated, and a new Teen Center is available at Long Island City Library!
