Haiti's History Through Art

Haitian artist Patricia Brintle uses her works of art to depict important events and people that are part of Haiti’s history. From the discovery of the island by Christopher Columbus, she spans through the slave trade, the rebellion, its independence, the monarchy, the American Occupation, and the Duvalier dynasty to the present. This inspiring, educational presentation reveals parts of history that are largely unknown and offers an opportunity for attendees to learn about artists, their work, and the legacy they leave to generations. This program is funded by New York City Council Member Nantasha Williams.
