From Cole Porter to Stephen Sondheim, the Great American Songbook has always been fueled by the Great American Musical. Join vocalist Willa Bassen as she looks at famous songs, the musicals they came from and the times they were written in. Songs include “Cheek To Cheek,” “Guys And Dolls,” “Cabaret,” “Send in the Clowns,” “I Feel Pretty” and “People.” Willa has worked with such luminaries as Harry Connick, Jr., Keith Richards, and jazz great Herbie Mann. Willa also wrote the title song for the original movie “Hairspray” as well as music and songs for the Olympics, ABC-TV sports and the AMC-TV show “Mad Men.” This program is funded by New York State Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani.
