Blacks, Jews, and Black Jews: Together in Folk and Jazz

Smithsonian Folkways recording artist Jerron Paxton (formerly "Blind Boy" Paxton) and Dennis Lichtman are both acclaimed multi-instrumentalists who celebrate the rich history of collaborations between Black and Jewish musicians in jazz, folk, and popular music of the early 20th century. These Queens-based musicians share a deep love of the history, stories, and significance behind the music they play. Paxton plays on the banjo, fiddle, guitar and more, while Lichtman performs on the clarinet, mandolin, fiddle and a host of other instruments as well. There will be a Q&A following the concert.
