Ba Duan Jin Exercise (in Chinese)

English: Master a set of health-enhancing exercise techniques to keep yourself healthy! Shaolin martial arts master Guolin will teach us Shaolin Ba Duan Jin (Eight Pieces of brocade), a traditional Chinese qigong exercise consisting of eight flowing movements designed to improve flexibility, balance, and overall well-being. Each movement targets specific areas of the body promoting relaxation and enhancing energy flow through mindful breathing and mind-body connection for better physical and mental health. Master Guolin was born into a martial arts family in Henan, China. He became a Shaolin Temple monk at a young age and has practiced martial arts and Chan Buddhism for several decades. He was the head coach for the Warrior Monks and won several awards at China's National Kung Fu Festival. Participants should consult with their physicians before undertaking any exercise, nutrition or health-improvement program. This program is funded by New York State Senator John Liu.
Chinese: 掌握一套養生功法,讓自己保持健康!由少林寺武僧果林禪師親自傳授少林八段錦。 中醫理論認爲:人體生命,如果精神與肢體之間能夠保持平衡,協調統一,就是健康的標誌。 學習養生的方法,就是通過肢體動作來領悟呼吸的一種練習方法,在練習的過程中去感受呼吸與精神、呼吸與肢體的關係。 果林師傳自幼隨外祖父習武, 少年出家少林寺,參禪習武數十年,曾任少林寺武僧教練,第三十代方丈接法傳人,現任少林寺海外總會會長。 本課程是由紐約州參議員劉醇逸慷慨贊助。
