The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) is the largest of the Superintendent of Documents programs in the USA and is administered by the Library Programs Service (LPS). It acquires and distributes depository materials and coordinates the Federal depository libraries in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. The Central Library was designated a depository library in 1926 and houses a portion of what the FDLP offers. The collection is shelved by Superintendent of Documents (SuDoc) number, rather than by Dewey Decimal order. Many of these government documents can be found in our library catalog and are available to customers. The majority of the documents we receive are in the following subject areas: business, education, and health. Many documents are available online and can be accessed using the computers at any Queens Public Library location. Customers can retrieve government information from any public computer in Queens Public Library.
