Informational Workshops
The New Americans Program offers coping skills workshops at select Queens Public Library locations to help immigrants adjust to life in the United States.
Lawyers, teachers, counselors, and other professionals present programs in English and in the major immigrant languages spoken in Queens.
Topics include immigration law, becoming a citizen, tenants' rights, career planning, starting a business, parenting, education, and health.
Cultural Arts Programs
The New Americans Program offers cultural arts programs celebrating the arts and literature of the diverse ethnic groups in Queens’ neighborhoods.
Programs are presented at the Central Library and at our community libraries. Offerings include music, dance, drama performances, poetry, storytelling, and crafts.
Most cultural arts programs are bilingual, in both English and the language of the culture being showcased.
